Campround - Settling In

Nygozy went into the room she had indicated and dropped her supplies onto the floor while stretching and walking to the opposite end of the room. She looked at the two beds there then turned and sat on one, knowing that Kai and Torture had been following.

The dog trotted over to her and lay down for her to take the pack from his back and she did so.

"It seems we are growing as a group faster than I had expected." She said as she set Torture's equipment to the side then started petting his ears.

Kai walked into the room as Nygozy unstrapped Torture's equipment. He looked about the room before tossing his on supplies with the rest and settling himself in a coner of the room. He watched Nygozy quietly as she began to pet her dog. "It seems we are growing as a group faster than I had expected."

"That it does hero." The elf sighed, the group had seemed to get along for the most part. It was however a good-sized group, one that the assassin was part of and that meant all of the people would be around him. Great.

He was a dalish elf, dalish were those who did not like outsiders and perfered to stay in a family clan. That alone taught Kai to perfer few people, however he did not like his own clan and perfered no people. Again he sighed as he folded his arms across his chest and watched the dwarf.

"Why do you insist on calling me 'Hero'? It's a bit ... overbearing of a title. I'm just a normal person like you."

She sighed and sat back, "I'm not a crowds person. I've avoided people most of my life. It was safer that way. Now I'm here with quite a few people under my charge. I thought my group was large before the last battle but this ..." She shook her head, "I'm not sure how I'm going to handle some of these people."

"Yes, an ordinary person just like me that saved all of Ferelden" He rolled his eyes as he spoke sarcasticly "No, you are no ordinary woman. You are indeed a hero. I could not have lead a group to end the blight, I'd have probably killed them all and had my life ended by the horde. Though I could come up with a few other names if you really wish." He shifted his weight as the shadow of a smile crossed his lips briefly.

"I'm not a crowds person. I've avoided people most of my life. It was safer that way. Now I'm here with quite a few people under my charge. I thought my group was large before the last battle but this ...I'm not sure how I'm going to handle some of these people."

"You are like me in that way then, Avoiding others. You don't need to though, you have me for safety, and you do a fine job as leader. If you didn't you would never have ended the blight, you'll handle the group fine."

She rubbed her forehead but grinned at him, "It just seems pretentious. I'm sure you would have liked to kill a few of the people I had in that group. There were certainly times I wanted to but you can't expect everything to be perfect. You should have seen the time I got into a fight with one of our mages telling her I would save kittens from a tree if I wanted."

Nygozy watched him, pleased to see a smidgen of a smile, "This group seems fairly easy going so far but there are a couple I'm really not sure about. I am glad you are here though. It isn't so much the protection but the fact that you are good at listening and will tell me what you think directly is reassuring. I think I need that."

"Fighting with a mage about saving kittens? well that Truly is something to see. Though I may have to agree with the mage, I'm not the type to save a kitten. Though if you were the one in a tree..." Kai unfolded his arms and walked over to sit with Nygozy, he smirked at her. "Well that is a different situation entirely."

Kai lay back on the bed "Well I'm so glad my duties as a your gaurd are appreciated." He was once again sarcastic, then he changed his position. He propped himself up on his arms, leaning back against them as he looked at Nygozy more seriously.

"I shall always be honest with you, and listen to you as often as you need hero. I cannot let you be hurt either physicaly or emotionally. That is why you may confide in me all of your worries or fears and I will console or advise you best I can."

"Actually, it was more of a metaphor than literal interest. She had gotten upset because I promised to help someone and she became enraged asking if I was going to save every kitten caught in a tree. I told her if I wanted to save kittens I would damn well save kittens." She smirked back at him, "But yes it would matter to the kitten."

Nygozy watched as he relaxed on the bed with her, crossing her legs under herself and leaning forward, her elbows on her knees and chin on her thumbs with one hand on top of her other fist, "Hmm. Sarcasm. A tasty bite to that charm." She teased.

"I'm glad to have your ear and council. Too often one in my position has many things to work out without the benefit of the ear of one who is not directly affected by others in the group."

Her eyes twinkled with amused mischief, "And to have one who so readily looks out for my emotional stability is helpful as well. A reason you have stepped in regarding Royce. Yes?"

"I'm aware it was a metaphore, I perfer to take things more literally though, why bother with other things when being direct and literal gets you right to the point?"

the assassin watched as Nygozy's position shifted, he looked about the room finally settling his sight onn Torture. "I have about as much charm as a darkspawn."

His eyes settled again on Nygozy as he listened to her "I'm glad to have your ear and council. Too often one in my position has many things to work out without the benefit of the ear of one who is not directly affected by others in the group."

"That is a benefit That I will always give you. As I have told you already I'll always be honest or listen to your worries. You are welcome for my company in any situation no matter if you have to wake me or anything else."

Kai startted to watch the amusment and mischeif that had become clear in the woman's eyes, he focused on it for a moment. "To be honest, I'm not sure myself why I acted as I did against Royce. I suppose that yes, it may have been to protect you're emotional well being. All I'm certain of is that I felt need to protect you"

"I haven't had the pleasure of such directness since Sten left." She sighed, "Most people tend to dance around with words and I've learned the diplomatic ploys and intrigues. It doesn't mean it's my favorite manner of communication."

Nygozy smirked, "Yes, your charm is as sunny as a Darkspawn when you are around others. Somehow you seem different with me."

His words of loyalty made her feel cozy inside and she did not think it was a loyalty bought by money, "That means a lot to me, Kai."

She waited as he said about not knowing why he'd reacted to Royce and listened carefully, "I see. It seems that Zevran looked for everything in a protector for me."

Marcus poked his head in to the room where Nygozy and Kai were chatting. He was accompanied by Jezaraine. He put on that big oafish smile of his. "Why hello there, my stout employer and her cycloptic compatriot! Durbans here, wondering if the fine fellow named Ianto is about? The beauty beside/behind me is positively bursting with the need to speak to him and you! I am but the escort." He explained in his usual nonsensical eloquence.

He shot a grin at the two who were on the same bed. "Ah but where are my manners? I seem to have left them in my other pants. I did not know you two were bedding together! I shall endeavor to knock next time." He mused.

Kai was about to ask Nygozy what she meant when she said he seemed different when they were interrupted by a man who'd stuck his head into the room. He was followed by that talketive elf girl Kai'd traveled with. Great just what he needed, a headache.


"Why hello there, my stout employer and her cycloptic compatriot! Durbans here, wondering if the fine fellow named Ianto is about? The beauty beside/behind me is positively bursting with the need to speak to him and you! I am but the escort."

"Haven't seen him." Kai said shooting a glare to the man calling himself Durbans. The man smiled at the sight of Kai and Nygozy, for some reason it irritated the elf.

"Ah but where are my manners? I seem to have left them in my other pants. I did not know you two were bedding together! I shall endeavor to knock next time."

"We are not 'bedding' together, only having a coversation. One that you so kindly interrupted so yes, you'd best work on your manners."

Ah yes, Durbans. It seemed that this man would be one to make it a habit to accidentally jump in the middle of happenings without knowledge or care of what he was interrupting. There was something about the man which made her wonder but for now she let it be.

"Haven't seen him."

The simple, straight-forward truth and she did not even have to say a word. A grin formed on her face then she saw Jezarine behind the lumberjack, trying to peek in around him.

"Ah but where are my manners? I seem to have left them in my other pants. I did not know you two were bedding together! I shall endeavor to knock next time."

That was sure to obtain a reaction from Kai. Waiting did not take that long before the answer came.

"We are not 'bedding' together, only having a coversation. One that you so kindly interrupted so yes, you'd best work on your manners."

"Mind yourself, Durbans." Nygozy stated calmly, "Making presumptions upon others' personal ventures can be a bereft adventure unless you are looking for misadventures. However, as Kai has said, we have neither seen Ianto and we are having a personal discussion. I'm glad to see you have arrived, and you Jezarine. I hope you were able to find and heal Drake."

She waited for a moment, "We will be at the fire a bit later so feel free to do so yourselves. Close the door on your way out, Durbans."

Jezarine peeked around from behind Marcus in wonder as he spoke to Nygozy and Kai. She saw the look on Kai's face and almost expected throwing knives to appear so hid behind the man just in case. The healer wasn't beyond using someone as a meat shield when they provoked the dragon.

She waited for the discussion to be over before putting in any word of her own, "Thank you. We will be on our way now."

The young woman turned and walked back towards the exit wanting to hang out with everyone at the fire.

Kai watched as the elf girl hid, that was wise of her, if this Durbans persisted Kai would rather not hurt her as he went for Durbans. Thankfully Nygozy was able to handle the situation.

"Mind yourself, Durbans. Making presumptions upon others' personal ventures can be a bereft adventure unless you are looking for misadventures. However, as Kai has said, we have neither seen Ianto and we are having a personal discussion. I'm glad to see you have arrived, and you Jezarine. I hope you were able to find and heal Drake. We will be at the fire a bit later so feel free to do so yourselves. Close the door on your way out, Durbans."

Nygozy's way of handling thinngs like this impressed Kai, she was able to remain calm and speak clearly. It was one of the things that made her a good leader, she was very reasonable and often kept things clean. Though Kai was fairly reasonable himself, he perfered to settle disputes with actions rather than words.Being an elf meant that most of the time words did not work for him and that people would not listen to his words, even if they did he'd learned to use action. Being an assassin teaches one to kill not converse.

He watched as the elf girl turned to leave, Durbans right behind her. As the door closed behind them, as requested by the hero, Kai found himself feeling awkward. The interruption brought the conversation off track, he was unsure what he should say.
Moments like this were one of the reasons that the assassin did not like conversation, he avoided it usuallly as was no good at it anyway. As the thought about if he should ask the dwarf his previous questton he let his gaze go to the floor

The two left and closed the door making the Dwarf lean back against the pillow and wall. She sighed, letting out some air as she relaxed, "Sometimes I wonder whether I should just skip off into the wilds."

Nygozy turned her attention back to Kai, noticing that he was now looking at the floor. That was interesting, "You were going to ask me something before we were rudely interrupted?"

She leaned forward again and smiled, "I don't think anyone will bother us again. At least not for a long while."

Kai looked back at the dwarf. "Yes. You said earlier that I seemed different, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Different how?" The assassin watched Nygozy closely waiting for an answer. As he waited she smiled, somehow her smile seemed...to put the assassin at ease. It kept him a bit more calm. When the hero smiled like that the need to be so worried about everything wasn't as strong, not that it wasn't still there, He continued to keep his vigilance.

"I don't think anyone will bother us again. At least not for a long while."

"Let's hope not." Kai sat up straight on the bed resting his hands in his lap. He sighed and let his sights drift to the ceiling befor bringing them down to Nygozy again. "That's one of the reasons why I don't like people, they come in to something that they are not part of withought thinking about what they're going into. Our coversation could have just easily been a battle and the two of them would walk right into it"

Nygozy looked down at her hands as Kai asked her what she meant then she looked back up from under he lashes, almost shyly as a twitch moved the edge of her lips into a half smile, "You do not glare at me like you glare at everyone else. Your voice is not as harsh. When we speak you do so as an equal and not as if I am some gnat which you'd love to crush under your boot and as if you actually wish to speak with me."

She waited for him to go on and snorted, "Don't I know it. I like people but I don't like people. Strange is it not? Interruptions are, unfortunately, part of my life so much more than others. It was hard to accept at first and I still feel a bit ... cranky when it happens. For the most part though, I don't mind people and want the best. Sometimes I'd rather just put an axe in their head. I guess learning diplomacy has helped with that."

She chuckled as she glanced at Torture, "Be happy boy. Life is much easier for you. All you have to worry about is bite or not bite." Her eyes turned back to look at Kai.

"Well of course hero. If iI were to be so rude you you and speak to you as though you were beneath me well.. The crows could have my head, I rather like it not being in their possession." He looked at the dwarf girl and sighed. "No I can't say that. While it is true that I should be kind to you both as a hero and my 'charge' though I can't really call you that, I don't feel a though I'm being forced to show kindness where I would not. No, It's quite easy to speak so naturally with you."

Kai listened quietly to the dwarf, as she spoke now. "Don't I know it. I like people but I don't like people. Strange is it not? Interruptions are, unfortunately, part of my life so much more than others. It was hard to accept at first and I still feel a bit ... cranky when it happens. He was silently agreeing with what she was saying.

He watched Nygozy and Torture for a moment before reaching ot to pat the mabari lightly.

A brow rose as Kai started to speak as Nygozy could tell that was not completely the truth. There was more to the reasons he was being kinder to her than he would be to anyone else and finally he admitted to it. That earned him a gracious smile and her eyes dipped shyly at being told that he found it easy to speak with her.

"I find you easy to talk to as well. It is strange." Nygozy looked up at him, "There are few I can feel that I can be so open with because I want to be open with them instead of having to be."

The Dwarven woman stood, avoiding stepping on the happy mabari who had gotten into a pack and pulled out a bone to chew on. She rubbed his head after Kai had and started out.

"Let's get to putting in my appearance with the troops before we both become too calm as to care." She knew she had to do this. It was only good leadership to spend time with those who would be taking orders and working for you. Or at least that is how she felt about it. It was even more important due to this being a newly formed group.
